In Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, small business owners and resellers still rely on WhatsApp groups, vendor calls, and spreadsheets to manage wholesale buying and selling. The result? Fragmented communication, no order tracking, branding limitations, and unscalable workflows.

How do small businesses in India manage sourcing, reselling, and delivery, and what’s broken?

What we did:

  • Engaged in field conversations with sellers and resellers

  • Ran informal surveys through industry groups and forums

  • Audited platforms like Meesho, Udaan, and IndiaMART

  • Analyzed patterns in product handling, communication, and brand control

    Our core users, small business owners and resellers, had varying levels of digital literacy.

    We prioritized zero-learning-curve interactions, using large tap targets, guided flows, and progressive disclosure to keep things simple for non-tech-savvy users. 


  2. Simplifying Complexity

    Balancing robust features like catalog creation, role-based access, and reselling workflows inside a minimal, non-intimidating UI was a key design challenge.

    We broke down complex workflows into small, modular actions. By limiting on-screen decisions at any given point, users could focus on one task at a time, making the app feel lightweight, even though it was powerful.


  3. Local Market Realities

    Many users still rely on verbal payment confirmations and offline transactions. A large portion prefer cash or credit-based dealings.

    Instead of forcing digital payments, we designed Skartify to co-exist with informal modes of payment, allowing sellers to use their preferred credit/cash methods while still getting structure, visibility, and control.
